The images appearing on this page are digitally scanned slides, using a slide copier and the extraordinary macro feature of the Nikon Coolpix 950 and 990 digital cameras. The original images were shot in Hawaii (on numerous trips between the years 1982-1987) using Canon's A1E and A2E EOS (film based) cameras (and a variety of lenses, filters and tripods). The scanned images were post-processed using Adobe's Photoshop. Color correction was made easier using Pictographics' iCorrect. Digital noise, which was at times rather considerable in the original scans, was easily, almost effortlessly, removed by an extraordinary stand-alone noise removal program called Neat Image.

For best results, you ought to be able to distinguish among all 10 shades of grey in the figure below.
If not, you may need to adjust your monitor's  brightness / contrast / gamma.
